Visiting the Grandparents

We came up to visit my parents for a few days. Hunter and Sarah have
been having a blast. Sarah is especially excited to be able to play
with and sit on Ranger more often. She loves Ranger, he makes a great
horse ride too. This morning we are playing all together while Hunter
anxiously awaits his Grandparents, how they can sleep with all this
racket I'll never know. Hunter is learning how to use this dinosaur
"gripper" toy to pick up and move his cars around. Oh what fun.

My Crazy Girl

My crazy daughter has been trying to eat at the table lately without her booster seat. This table is one for the kids so it's their size. She can actually get up in the chair now and loves to do so when it's snack time. She does however prefer to sit backwards in the chair. I have no idea why but that's how she sits, even when I place her in correctly. She can also almost always get back down successfully.

She also likes to chew on shoes, she has for as long as I can remember. Although she would happily chew on one for quite some time I try to discourage that behavior. I only let her try this time long enough to take the picture. She has been getting more and more teeth so she should be done teething soon and she can eat almost anything without a problem.
Well, without a problem until tonight that is. She actually hurt her mouth pretty badly tonight although it should all be ok in a couple of days or weeks at the most. She was climbing our bed to get to Hunter and somehow, I'm still not really sure how this happened in order to injure her the way that it did, but she hit one of her bottom teeth really hard. She has 3 grown in with the 4th finally poking thru and the middle one was knocked forward about the depth of one of her teeth. She has quite the crooked little smile now. She was pretty upset and actually bled quite a bit, even for a mouth wound. I did call the pediatrician on call just to be safe. She said that there's nothing that they really could do and that it'll probably tighten up and move back into place soon. Well, my tough little cookie was fine about 20 minutes later, took her tylenol and went to bed just fine. I do think that she may hold off on chewing on the shoes for a while.

Backyard Play

I did mention that Sarah likes to get dirty, did I also mention that she likes to eat dirt? Oh and flowers and snails if I'm not watching. We were out in the yard a lot today because the weather has been so nice. I was setting up the little play pool when I heard Hunter say, "she's eating the dirt mommy". He's pretty good at tattling these days which does help me out quite a bit. So I figured this face deserved a picture.
After the dirt eating incident we filled up our new little purple pool with water and played and played. Sarah absolutely loves the water and even tried to get in the pool this morning when it was freezing cold outside (well freezing cold for us spoiled Californians).

Some Light Reading

After the kids' bath this morning they went into Sarah's room and we all played together for a while. Sarah really likes reading books these days and so Hunter decided to join her. For a brief moment they even got along. Hunter really likes to have pictures taken of him and he especially likes to look at them afterward. I suppose that it's a good thing since he'll help me take more pictures.

Sarah also slept in her bed last night without the toy shelf next to her. I hope that she'll continue to move around less during the night. That might help her keep the covers on better. That might help me to get more sleep because I won't have to go in and cover her back up when she gets cold. She's getting so big....

Messy kids

Yes, it is only 8 in the morning and we're already taking a bath. The
kids came in from the backyard and I couldn't even see Sarah's feet
they were so covered with mud. So they get to play in the bath for a
while.

Changing Sarah's Bed

Today I decided to try and give Sarah a little more freedom, I took off one of the sides to her crib. She was starting to try and crawl out and I figured that it was only a matter of time before she would succeed. She does move a lot when she's sleeping however so I had to move her toy shelf over to help keep her from falling out. In a few days/weeks I'll see if she can stay in the bed without it. Hunter and Sarah had a great time playing in it, Sarah loves being able to get in and out by herself and she was reading books in there for a while.

Then it was time for bed. Sarah is actually pretty good at going to bed. She loves to give nite-nite kisses to everyone, especially Hunter. He loves it too. I had her go to her room and get in bed herself. She tried to stall and stop by the toy shelf. She wasn't exactly thrilled to be going to bed but she eventually crawled in all by herself, crying the whole time.

She finally settled down... even though she cried for a little while (5 minutes) she actually stayed in her bed. Yeah! I'll see how tonight goes, she hasn't learned how to open the door yet so she'll at least still be contained in her room. Maybe she'll wake up in the morning and play in her room for a while before she wakes me up. Haha...

Cranky child

Sarah started teething again this week so she's been super fussy. She
woke up from her nap in pain and the only thing that would cheer her
up was to push her stroller around the house. Go figure. She did
quickly move on to the dirt outside, with the baby from the stroller.

Playing in the dirt

So Sarah is just like her brother, and her mother. She would prefer to play in the dirt and with the cars and trucks than with anything else. As soon as I open the door to the backyard she heads straight for our "digging area" where she proceeds to play with, even more humorously, eat the dirt. She also really loves to pick off the flowers in our yard and eat them too.

Tv Stare

Hunter has his daddy's "TV stare" as I call it. He was curled up to
me this morning watching a Garfield movie. Since his Aunt Kim came to
visit he's in love with that movie and Flushed Away because they are
both set in England. He tells me everytime they start "That's where
Seetle lives". That's what he calls his Aunt Kim.

Cute Sarah

Sarah was playing with Bear earlier and I just had to take some more
pictures of her. She sure is cute. Oh, did I mention that I posted this from my iphone? Yeah....

Having Snack

The kids decided that it was snack time so they went out to our backyard to enjoy some peanut butter crackers. It works out well, Hunter eats the peanut butter from the middle and then gives Sarah the cracker. He does the same with Ritz Cheese crackers. It used to drive me crazy until he had someone to give his remains to. Two peas in a pod I guess.
Most days Hunter still tries to continuously hurt Sarah but on a good note I think he's only trying to play and doesn't really mean to hurt her, he just a boy and he likes to play rough. I can't wait until she gets bigger and can talk.
They both can't get enough of each other. That's good I guess. Hunter is also really good at "taddling" on Sarah. Mostly for the same things that he does and gets in trouble for. If only he would remember that he's not supposed to do them either.

Family Photos

We finally took more family photos, it's only been since Christmas. I thought that I'd post one of my favorites. I'll try and put pictures up at least once a week for those who might try keeping up with this sight. We'll see how it goes.

First Blog

Ok People, I finally decided to get on the blog bandwagon and start my own... I figured since I haven't updated my own sight for 2 years (since I was pregnant with Sarah) I needed an alternative that didn't take so long. I hope that this works out and that I can maybe even update from my new iphone which will help the blogs a coming. We'll see.
